Event Reflection: MLK Day March

Happy Martin Luther King Day! I attended the Eugene march this morning with Sophie, Cait, Amy, Ida, Laura, and Miriam (and her two kiddos)! The march was great! It was really fun marching with everybody and to go to this event and feel like so many of my peeps showed up! #ILoveNastyWomen. I was interviewed by a student from the journalism school about my sign (“White Silence is Violence”), but I’m not very confident about how accurately he quoted me.

The presentations/speakers at the Shed were a little long and probably should have been done in reverse, starting with the elder from the black activist community, then the youth from the black activist community (the NAACP youth board did a great job with their presentation!), and last the white men politicians.

P.S. PHILLP GOT AN AWARD!! And we now follow him on twitter 🙂 #OurNextPresident
